Dubai’s Museum of the Future closes on 16 September 2026 for its first complete exhibition overhaul since opening — which means Monday 15 September is the last day to see the current experience. Why the Museum Is Closing
The Museum of the Future was never designed as a permanent collection. Its founding idea is that a museum about the future has to keep reinventing itself — the exhibitions imagine the year 2071, and what felt futuristic in 2022 already reads differently in 2026. Rather than swapping pieces one at a time, the museum is taking the radical route: close completely, rebuild the visitor journey, and reopen with experiences that reflect where AI, space exploration and climate science actually stand today.
The reopening in early 2027 will mark five years since the building opened its doors — and the new exhibitions are being shaped partly by ideas submitted by the public worldwide.
What You’ll Miss If You Wait
The current journey spans five floors of the 78–metre torus: the OSS Hope space station experience, the HEAL Institute’s digital Amazon and DNA library, the sensory Al Waha floor, the Tomorrow Today technology gallery, and the children’s Future Heroes level. All of it is scheduled to be replaced — when the museum reopens, it will be a genuinely different visit.

A City That Rebuilds Its Icons
The revamp is part of a wider pattern this season: Dubai is refreshing its biggest draws almost simultaneously. GITEX is moving to Expo City after 45 years at the World Trade Centre, Etihad Rail opens the Dubai–Abu Dhabi line on 30 September, and Global Village returns for Season 31 in October. For a city whose economy runs on being worth visiting twice, none of this is coincidence.
